Increasing The Perceived Value of Your Product or Service

Whether online or offline, small businesses often show little faith in the quality of their service or product. Instead, they tend to focus on the limitations and lower their prices. This natural insecurity can lead to disastrous financial results because lower prices cripple your return on investment. Rest assured, you will make sales if you research the market, locate a need and provided a quality solution. Do not let insecurity waste the blood, sweat and tears you expended on the business. Instead, you should focus on building your credibility and displaying it on your site. Consider the following: If your product is the greatest thing since sliced bread, why are you selling it for a nominal amount?...

Growing Your Business In CyberSpace

A synopsis of Philippa Gamse's Presentation to the National Speakers Association, Washington DC chapter on Saturday, January 10, 2004 Someone had asked Philippa why Websites are such a 'pain' in a pre-seminar question. Her opening reply was simple, yet powerful, "when you stop improving your site, you stop growing." She believes that Websites are a work in progress much like a business plan or one's own self-improvement. In fact, the first question you should ask yourself about your own Website is, "What does it really do for people?" The second question is "Who is your audience?" You see, websites are really a lot like a business plan! If you are trying to attract prospective clients, then each individual page on your site should offer something of value to your audience....

Guru... Schmooru... So What! The Internet Gurus Unmasked

The word "guru", in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is defined as: 1. a personal religious and spiritual teacher in Hinduism 2. a teacher in matters of fundamental concern 3. EXPERT As I see this title "guru" bandied around so frequently on the Internet, I find myself asking these questions. What qualifies a person to be a guru? Is there some sort of test you have to pass? Does it go by age? Are gurus old men of wisdom? Or can anyone be a guru? Are they perhaps appointed by their peers or maybe they appoint themselves? Do you have to have a license to be a guru? Or perhaps if you have made a certain amount of money off the Internet you qualify as a guru? It sort of reminds me of my first business....

Sending A Joint Venture Proposal

When forming a joint venture with another business, your most important step is the approach you use when contacting your potential business partner. Participating in a joint venture with another prominent business can be extremely beneficial to ones business. The biggest reason why most webmasters do not get a reply back when sending a proposal, is the approach they use. I cannot begin to tell you how many proposals I personally have received that get deleted almost instantly. There are some that address the proposal with "Dear Webmaster" or as simple as just "Hi". Some do not tell me anything about themselves or their business (I guess I'm suppose to guess at this one)....

Take the Guesswork Out of Niche Marketing

Many of us learn from the Gurus that we should identify a niche and dominate it, so we can make money online. They give us brief glimpses about what is to be done, like identifying a niche market by browsing magazines and hanging around in forums and discussion groups to see if we can be hit by an idea brainwave. Oh how I wish it was that easy. My first attempts at finding a niche made me feel like I've gone deeper into quicksand, and the niche with a great demand had an awful lot of competition. Not one to be outdone, I went and bought software and books to learn what mistakes I made and try to recover from the mistakes. I learnt all about demand, and how "wordtracker" is the best service to use to assess demand for keywords and how to assess and estimate supply from "Google" manually....

Chameleon Advertising: Marketing to Your Niche Markets with Stories

Do you remember how, in days gone by, salesmen would go doorto door selling their wares? These entrepreneurs would "gothe extra mile" just to have the chance to demonstrate theirproducts to people in their own home. Why do you suppose they did that? Was it effective enough tomake that extra effort? And what can we learn from it? The reason why door-to-door demonstrations of yesterday worked so well is because it gave the customer a chance to experience the product. Humans are experiential in nature. That is, we understand the world around us by experiencing it. So putting a product in our hands gives us that opportunity. We get to feel it, use it, and see how its application could benefit us....
